EPTA, GOLD SPONSOR AT THE 6° EDITION OF ATMOSPHERE EUROPE 2015

Epta will be a Gold Sponsor at the sixth edition of ATMOsphere Europe 2015. This event, a meeting place for opinion leaders and experts in the HVAC&R industry (Heat Ventilation Air conditioning Cooling & Refrigeration), will be held in Bruxelles on March 16th to 17th. It is the place where the latest technological news in terms of natural refrigerants, market trends and reference standards are shared and discussed.

This is a challenge but also an opportunity for the guest speakers, who will be called to present their successes in the European market, through projects selected  for their innovational content and the expertise developed in the field on the use of natural refrigerant like CO2, ammonia, hydrocarbons, air and/or water.

Sustainability, originality and measurability: these are the criteria used in project selection. Preferred projects will be endorsed by the results of tests performed on actual installations and will contain best practice tips for future applications. Also, preferred case histories will be those providing data about the effect of refrigerants on the systems' Coefficient of Performance (COP) compared to traditional set-ups as well as energy cost, planning, implementation and life cycle data. EDEKA AND EPTA, TOGETHER ONCE AGAIN TO CREATE A FORWARD-LOOKING STORE

Together Edeka Schubert and Epta have written a new chapter in their long-standing co-operation which began in 2005. A leader in its region, when the German chain opened their sixth point of sale in the Rostock area, they decided to do it in style: creating an extremely energy-efficient store with an exclusive design.

In this innovational point of sale covering an area of 1200 m2, Bistrot and Gemini Kristal by Eurocryor - suitable for the display of meat, sausages, sushi and pre-packed fish - stand out, as well as Proxima and Viseo ECO4 cabinets by Bonnet Névé. The latter are positive-temperature multidecks with double-glazed doors developed to provide high thermal insulation and low energy consumption. The light structure of these cabinets ensures an excellent display ratio and a streamlined and minimalist design. The installation is completed by other items from the Cosmos 3 ECO low-temperature line, also branded Bonnet Névé, which provide excellent frozen food preservation.

Choosing energy efficiency has never been this easy: LED lighting on cabinets and Epta's transcritical CO2 refrigeration system installed with a system to reclaim excess heat, improve the store's eco-sustainable features while fully complying with UE emissions standards.

LONG LIVE FRESH PRODUCTS: THANKS TO EPTA'S SUPERCHILLING TECHNOLOGY

On August 29th,  2014, in Paris, the closing event of the FRISBEE research project was held.

FRISBEE (Food Refrigeration Innovations for Safety, consumers’ Benefit, Environmental impact and Energy optimisation along the cold chain in Europe) is a four-year European research project, focusing on innovation for the refrigeration industry. The foremost goal of this program is to develop solutions to reduce energy consumption while guaranteeing the utmost food quality and safety.

In this context, and as a FRISBEE partner, Epta presented the world's first prototype of a Superchilling cabinet for the Food Retail and Catering business, a process that of extends the shelf life of fresh products, keeping their nutritional and organoleptic properties intact.

Finally, many other solutions were presented, the work of the 25 operators that participated in the project from 12 companies, 11 Research Centres and Universities and 2 NGOs. Among the most interesting first-time proposals from the workgroup that Epta belongs to include QEEAT , a software which can provide Energy consumption and GWI index predicting estimates for individual cold chains. Also a magnetic refrigerator prototype for household applications.

2014 ECOCARE AWARD FOR EPTA SUSTAINABILITY PROJECT

Epta achieves the silver medal in the 2014 ECOCARE, an event promoted by the German magazine “Lebensmittel Praxis” to award the best sustainability concepts offered by retailers, food producers and suppliers of the supermarket business.

Epta, the only refrigeration equipment supplier winner, was awarded the ‘Project’ category second prize, for environmental friendly production of cabinets in the Limana production site (North of Italy).
Specifically, through the installation of a cogeneration plant and photovoltaic technology Epta are able to support 37% of the entire facility’s needs for thermal and electrical energy.
Moreover, further reductions in consumption are also achieved as the hot air produced by the thermoelectric equipment is reused by the painting ovens.
In addition the new painting line that has doubled productivity, allowing a substantial decrease in energy and water consumption.

The jury also appreciated Epta’s proactive Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) policy. The Group has set long-term sustainability goals reflected in its environmentally friendly manufacturing process, using natural refrigerants and in the ongoing development of sustainable technical solutions for food retailers.

Temperature drops, visibility is on the rise: thanks to the new Costan and Bonnet Névé Frozen Ranges

The Frozen food range becomes richer with the new Elephant UP/Ampleo UP multidecks and the Cayman UP/Coliseum UP combined cabinets. These are negative-temperature cabinets suitable for the display of pre-packed ice cream and frozen food in supermarkets, hypermarkets and cash & carry stores. Great visibility of the displayed product and high energy efficiency at frozen food temperatures are the two big plusses created by RevUP Technology: best visual display to boost profitability in the department.

These cabinets also feature LED lighting from the IntensLIGHT Advance range, which is perfectly integrated into the cabinet uprights, providing uniform light distribution (4.100K) and minimising shadows while intensifying the colour of packaging to highlight the products on display. Finally, the energy efficiency requirements retailers are faced with inspired the Company to develop the innovative BTH wiring architecture. Offered in two versions, this can reduce energy consumption by between 30 and 50%. The cabinet becomes intelligent: the BTH system fine-tunes the cabinets electrical operation to match store conditions, including seasonal and attendance factors, the cabinet meets the most stringent energy conservation requirements in stores
