Epta confirms its support as Main Partner at the sixteenth edition of Forum Qualenergia which, promoted by Legambiente, La nuova ecologia Editoriale and by the no-profit Kyoto Club, has been pursuing at length the goal of promoting dialogue between institutions, businesses and researchers on crucial issues in the energy-environment sector.

Held between 12 and 13 December in Rome, in the Sala Verdi of Hotel Quirinale, the event entitled “La risposta della sostenibilità. Rinnovabili: innovazione in cantiere. Follow the energy”, involved public administrators, university lecturers and prominent representatives of different production sectors.

Francesco Mastrapasqua, President of ASSOCOLD and Institutional Affairs Manager of Epta, representing the commercial and industrial refrigeration sector, took part as a speaker presenting the point of view of the sector which is one of the first to have embarked upon the route of innovation and sustainability of its technologies which has led it in a few years to almost completely abandon the use of fluorinated refrigerants given their considerable climate and chemical impact in the environment.

SUSTAINABILITY AND DECARBONISATION IN REFRIGERATION: THE WORDS OF MASTRAPASQUA PLOT THE COURSE

The speech by Francesco Mastrapasqua, dedicated to sustainability and the process of decarbonisation in refrigeration, concentrated on the overview of the current conditions of the refrigeration sector and its innovations, plotting at the same time the course towards a tangible ecological transition.

His contribution at Forum Qualenergia 2023, focused on the updates on the F-Gas Regulation which comes into force in March 2024. Among the numerous new measures it contains, destined to revolutionise the technologies and the market standards, it highlights the total elimination of HFC by 2050, in line with the goals of the European Green Deal.

In addition to a preliminary legislative analysis, his speech explained the importance of abandoning fluorinated refrigerants as soon as possible in favour of natural refrigerants, already the most popular in refrigeration technologies, to ensure a lower environmental impact and maximum efficiency.
