Epta was one of the Main Sponsors of the Forum QualEnergia 2022 held in Rome, organised by Legambiente, Kyoto Club and La Nuova Ecologia. A two-day event which saw public administrators, university lecturers and entrepreneurs as the protagonists of numerous meetings.

A wide-ranging set of themes were handled: from renewable energy sources to electric mobility to technological innovation for greater energy efficiency.

Natural refrigerants VS HFC

An initiative which began 15 years ago, and which proposes a moment of debate between institutions, companies, world of economics and research. The goal is to provide guidelines and advice to operators in the sector, stimulating the energy transition.

The 2021 edition marked the beginning of the Unione del Caldo e del Freddo Green project which Epta has been a founding member of together with Legambiente alongside other outstanding Italian companies.

This year’s message was also loud and clear: mitigate climate change for a sustainable future.

A theme also explored by Francesco Mastrapasqua, Chairman of Assocold, as well as Institutional Affairs Manager of Epta.

The issue was handled during his speech inside the session: “La decarbonizzazione nella refrigerazione e nel settore del riscaldamento. Ambizioni e sostenibilità nel nuovo regolamento F-GAS” (Decarbonisation in refrigeration and heating. Ambitions and sustainability of the new F-GAS regulation). A speech finalised at increasing the attention in the use of natural refrigerants to replace HFC

Innovative companies for a sustainable future

Unione del Caldo e del Freddo Green is an initiative which Epta tangibly supports,

alongside Legambiente,

The work group was initially formed by 8 innovative companies which have become 14. The work group has focused on the spread of several priority actions useful to revise the 517/2014 regulation which will determine the future of the European and world market of the sector. It specifically proposes to:

  • promote the use of all natural refrigerant gas technologies
  • encourage the adoption of a national decarbonisation plan in the refrigeration sector
  • strengthen the battle against the illegal trade of HFC
  • stimulate the training of technicians and operators of the sector.

“To accelerate the phase-down of the HFC quotas which will be reduced with all probability from 2024 and up to 98% by 2048 it is necessary to stimulate the use of natural gas in every application, an area in which our Country boasts a competitive edge”, states Francesco Mastrapasqua.
