Epta is Silver Sponsor of the Gustav Lorentzen biennial conference, dedicated to natural refrigerants, and scheduled from 13 to 15 June 2022.

The event returns to Trondheim, native city of Professor Gustav Lorentzen, to whom the event is dedicated. The event confirms the centrality of CO₂ as refrigerant of the future.

The conference has established itself over the years as an important moment of exchange for more than 350 experts. The goal is to deepen the most recent progress made on the use of natural fluids as refrigerant, in different types of systems and areas of application.

The conference is organised by SINTEF, by the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU), by the Norwegian Society of Refrigeration and by the Norwegian Society of HVAC Engineers, on behalf of the International Institute of Refrigeration IIR.

This year’s guiding thread is “The Natural Choices by 2030”, as a testimony of how one of the key challenges of the sector is the establishment of natural refrigerants as alternatives able to respond to the phase down envisaged by the Kigali amendment to the Montreal Protocol.

Sustainable refrigeration to reduce the environmental impact

With the growing need for countermeasures for global warming, natural refrigerants are crucial to contribute to the reduction of the carbon footprint in the sectors of refrigeration, heating and cooling.

The conversion to green fluids – supported by numerous research groups and organisations, including Epta – is an ecological and long-term solution.

The conference will be the opportunity to contribute to consolidating the need for transition to sustainable refrigeration for the entire HVAC/R sector.
