EPTA IS HIGH-PROFILE GUEST AT THE UNEP CONGRESS OF DUBAI 2024

Andrea Cavalet, General Manager of Epta Middle East, represented Epta as speaker at the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) Congress of Dubai, with a speech dedicated to the latest technological innovations of the Group, aimed at making commercial refrigeration more natural and high-performing, even in extreme climate conditions.
The Joint Thematic Meeting for High Ambient Temperature (HAT)/ Group 2 Countries in West and South Asia Regions was a unique opportunity for all players of the refrigeration, air-conditioning, heat pump equipment sector, in terms of legislative and technological updating, as well as a moment for sharing the best practices already in use in Asia and in other continents.
Held from 22 to 23 April at the Radisson Blue Hotel Dubai Waterfront, it primarily dealt with Western and Southern Asian countries. An event with an international scope, which deepened the translation into concrete actions of the Kigali Amendment, in force since 2019 and which includes 85% reduction in fluorinated gases by 2050, with the goal of mitigating climate change.
Many presentations and round tables focused on the critical problems and potential of the Asian Countries, for example the increasingly high temperatures and the new regulations which have the aim of promoting a progressive phase-down of HCFC and HFC.
From this perspective, the New F-gas Regulation, recently approved in Europe, the studies on PFAS and the impact of the latest regulatory developments on the market of refrigeration were at the centre of the contribution of Francesco Mastrapasqua, Institutional Affairs Manager of Epta, at the UNEP Congress, in which he participated representing EUROVENT.
EPTA, A REFERENCE POINT FOR THE ASIAN MARKET
Epta confirms itself as a real reference point for the Asian market, thanks to meaningful investments in Research in terms of transcritical CO2 technologies.
The speech by Epta, envisaged in the session dedicated to successful projects, allowed to demonstrate how carbon dioxide refrigeration is the only option able to merge effective environmental sustainability and maximum operational and energy performance.
Once again, Epta renews its leadership in the use of CO2, explaining, in detail, the proven advantages in its installations in operation around the world. Notable among the case studies are the innovative systems for transcritical CO2 plants, namely FTE 2.0 (Full Transcritical Efficiency) and ETE (Extreme Temperature Efficiency), able to maximise efficiency even in Asian regions with temperatures higher than 40°C.
In these conditions, FTE 2.0 is particularly effective combined with the ETE subcooler, to guarantee 100% refrigerating capacity and significant savings in extreme climate conditions, for an annual reduction of between 15 and 23% in energy consumption, if compared with the traditional CO2 plants, and of 20% in CO2 emissions in conditions of Countries defined HAT (high ambient temperature).
“To be speakers at such a prestigious congress, sponsored by the Multilateral Fund for the Implementation of the Montreal Protocol and by the United Arab Emirates Ministry of Climate Change & Environment, is a source of great pride for us” states Andrea Cavalet, General Manager of Epta Middle East, who concludes “Our technologies, patented to overcome climate limits, are a valuable ally to support the effective ecological transition of the entire Asian sector”.
