Epta France protects forest heritage, actively contributing to financing a reforestation project of the Massif of the Landes, situated in southwest France and severely damaged by a devastating wildfire in August 2022.

The programme includes the recovery of 11.4 hectares of forest in 5 years in the affected territory and subsequent sustainable forest management, in line with the principles of close to nature forestry.

Epta recognises the vital importance of the green lungs of our planet, able to supply oxygen, food, active pharmaceutical ingredients, and freshwater.

Forests play a fundamental role in climate stabilisation against global warming, absorbing 289 billion tonnes of carbon dioxide every year.

PROTECTION OF FORESTS AS ESG STRATEGY OF THE GROUP

Protection of forests through policies aimed at reforestation are fully in line with the ESG strategies of the Group.

These initiatives are a long-term guarantee of extremely positive effects on the environment, as well as giving life back to destroyed territories and to the communities who reside there.

Specifically, the project of the Massif of the Landes, certified by the Label Bas Carbone, will allow Epta to reduce the residual CO2 emissions produced in its French plants by 1225 tonnes and which current technologies are unable to eliminate, reaching almost total compensation.

This reforestation initiative, ratified in a 5-year contract, is part of a much wider business strategy, geared to the progressive minimisation of the environmental impact of the Groupdeclares Jean Marc Abbadie, Regional HR Business Partner of Epta, who continues and concludes “As Green Transition Enabler, in addition to guaranteeing 100% natural refrigeration, Epta undertakes to reduce its CO2 emissions by a further 55% within the next three years, to reach the target of 97% of recycled waste”.
