EPTA CELEBRATES THE END OF THE VAL VISDENDE REFORESTATION PROJECT

Epta celebrates the end of the Val Visdende reforestation project, to which the Group has made a significant contribution, since the first tree was planted in June 2021, with overall funding of 100 thousand euro.
Severely affected by the Vaia storm between October and November 2018, the valley of the Venetian Dolomites has finally been able to rediscover its characteristic beauty and its rich vegetation, thanks to the recovery of more than 7 hectares of damaged forest. Over the three years of interventions, carried out thanks to the collaboration between Epta, Regione del Veneto, Veneto Agricoltura and Consorzio Visdende, the essential functions of the forest have been restored thanks to the planting of more than 24,000 new trees. Today, thanks to Epta, 7,500 larches, 7,232 spruces, 5,275 beeches, 1,344 rowan trees, 1,344 sycamores and 700 Scots pines repopulate the natural oasis of Belluno.
PLANTING TREES FOR A BETTER FUTURE
“Today, a path which represents much more than a simple environmental intervention for Epta comes to an end”, declares Mariaserena Nocivelli, member of the BoD of Epta HDP, and continues “This project bears witness to the strong bond our company has with Val Visdende and with the area of Belluno, where our roots are embedded. We wanted to contribute to the revival of these areas, convinced that protection of the natural heritage is essential for the future of local communities”.
Planting trees for a better future: on one side, the reforestation of Val Visdende, besides preventing soil erosion, landslides and avalanches, will allow to annually absorb, according to the latest estimates, 24.86 tonnes of carbon, corresponding to 91.24 tonnes of CO², actively contributing to the fight against climate change.
On the other, the planting of trees has used local workers hired by the Consorzio delle Quattro Regole di San Pietro, combining the environmental and socio-economic revival of the area with a view to ESGs.
