COOL NEWS FOR EPTA: EUROVENT PUBLISHES NEW GUIDELINES FOR PROPER MARKET SURVEILLANCE

Eurovent, European association for the HVAC segments, process cooling and technologies for the food cold chain, published updated guidelines on 14 March for proper market surveillance for refrigeration solutions with a direct sales function, in Retail and in Food&Beverage and Ho.Re.Ca.
Authoritative manifesto of a commitment shared by all participants of the Product Group Commercial Refrigeration Equipment (PG-RDC) of Eurovent, it is destined primarily to producers and suppliers of the commercial refrigeration sector, as well as to the authorities in charge of verifying compliance of refrigeration equipment for retail sale.
The new Eurovent Guide not only provides an overview of the complex existing legislative system, making the most recent regulations of the European Union immediately accessible and clear but, through practical advice, promotes full adhesion to the legislation in terms of transparency in the self-certification of technical ownership and performance of single unit, by the producer, and scrupulous control by the competent bodies.
ECODESIGN AND ENERGY LABELLING: THE REGULATIONS FOR TRUE COMPLIANCE
An addition goal of the Eurovent text is to communicate to all players of the sector the specifications of the most stringent Regulations on Ecodesign (2019/2024) and Energy Labelling (2019/2018), which are now the key principles to be inspired by to achieve true compliance.
The first establishes the minimum efficiency requirements of the solutions put on the market, the second provides for the introduction of a label which contains information on annual consumption and energy class, calculated depending on the type of furnishing, products displayed and preservation temperature.
These two complementary regulations have a dual purpose: on one side, the progressive elimination of the lower energy classes with a view to continuous improvement towards maximum efficiency. On the other, promote innovation and competitivity among producers, who are required to compulsorily register their systems in the European Commission Database EPREL (European Product Registry for Energy Labelling).
In this context, as Eurovent member, Epta has always stood out as spokesperson for change, positioning itself on the market with a range of best-in-class solutions and an approach aimed at the circular economy, for the benefit of the ecological transition of the entire sector.
“The publication of this text is an important milestone not only for all Eurovent members, who have contributed with their expertise to draw up the new guidelines, but for the entire refrigeration sector, called upon to tackle new challenges every day”, states Maurizio Orlandi, Group Technical Compliance & Intellectual Property Manager of Epta and President of Product Group Commercial Refrigeration Equipment (PG-RDC) of Eurovent, who concludes “We did it with the goal of facilitating the work of MSA for a fair and transparent market, with high quality standards and to benefit the sustainability of our products, in the best interests of all the subjects involved”.
