COMMERCIAL REFRIGERATION AND NEW EU REGULATIONS: EPTA PARTICIPATES IN DANISH TECHNOLOGICAL INSTITUTE WEBINAR

DANISH TECHNOLOGICAL INSTITUTE WEBINAR

Epta continues to promote ongoing development of the commercialrefrigeration sector, actively supporting the webinar entitled 'Navigating Testing and Compliance with EU Regulations: Refrigerated Display Cabinets'. The webinar was organised by the Danish Technological Institute with the aim of acquiring insight into the latest regulations and best practices, which are essential to tackle market challenges in a competitive and sustainable way.

Broadcast on Thursday 20 March from 9 am, the online event involved regulatory authorities, market surveillance bodies, researchers, manufacturers and installers of refrigeration equipment, allowing them to discuss the emerging dynamics of the segment while analysing the impact of European regulations, compliance requirements and the resulting opportunities for innovation.

Ecodesign and Energy Labelling: The new frontiers of commercial refrigeration

The latest European legislative developments on eco-design and energy labelling under the 2019/2018 and 2019/2024 regulations were the topic of several talks during the conference, and look set to radically transform the commercial refrigeration landscape and redefine market standards for equipment.

Bearing witness to Epta's vision and know-how, Francesco Mastrapasqua, Group Institutional Affairs SR Manager, underscored how energy efficiency and reduced environmental impact of equipment are now key criteria not just in the design stage, but above all in the choice of technologies; customers are increasingly oriented towards top-performing solutions, not least in terms of LCA (LifeCycle Assessment) and CFP(Carbon Footprint of Products), in order to consolidate their competitive lead in the sustainable marketplace. Against this backdrop, there is an increasing need for ongoing monitoring of the actual implementation of regulations, with market surveillance projects such as EEPLIANT4 2025-2029 aiming to assess the compliance of refrigeration products with European regulations.

"In the light of the most recent legislative developments aimed at minimising the overall climate footprint of products on the market and optimising their environmental performance, Epta has confirmed its role as a Green Transition Enabler. In so doing it is speeding up the industry-wide transition by developingsolutions that deliver excellent energy performance, certified by Eurovent and registered in the  EPREL database. Solutions that display ever-higher standards in terms of durability, repairs, ease of maintenance, disassembly and recycling," concludes Mastrapasqua.

The event, which was part of a packed programme of courses and seminars, was also a unique opportunity to take an exclusive virtual tour for a sneak preview of the new laboratories inaugurated at the Danish Technological Institute and to see its R&D work in action.
