Last week saw conclusion of the Epta Road Show, with its final appointment in Milan, after Limana, Hendaye, Bradford and Manheim. This has been an important Top Management initiative that aimed to share successes achieved so far and strategies for the future.

“Never settle for less than the best” – this is the motivational message put across by Sergio Chiostri to open the various meetings. A content-rich start, with the recent acquisition of Misa standing out in particular, evidence of the Group’s desire for continual growth and a greater market share thanks to continual improvement and greater corporate efficiency.

After a wide-ranging strategic introduction of competitiveness, Marco Novicelli explained the goals for the next few years, at the same time analysing the importance of the issue of sustainability and professional growth of human resources. Talks given by Daniele Marongiu, William Pagani and Luca Lastella were fundamental for illustrating the company’s strategic-commercial position on an international scale. Opening was announced of a new Epta International office in Budapest, which will have the remit of developing business in Eastern Europe.

Results from new markets of interest were also presented, which see strong growth in South America in general and, specifically, in Venezuela, Columbia, Peru and China. The latter will benefit from a turnkey service thanks to the crucial acquisition of VSD Engineering.

Marco Masini focused attention not only on eco-sustainability issues but also on the most up-to-date social and cultural trends (including the healthiness of food and ageing of the population), translating them into format for sales points and types of cabinets requested and explaining the strategic horizon of the company to 2015.

The event was a great opportunity for once again expressing thanks to all collaborators and gathering suggestions and constructive ideas from local businesses.

Over the next few weeks, the Limana and Solesino plants will see the start of an important initiative called Epta for safety, which aims to raise the awareness of personnel at Epta Group production sites regarding the main issues of safety at work and accident prevention.

The main inspiration for this initiative is Passion, the fourth Eptology value and evidence of the company’s attention to its most important resource: its employees.

The Epta for safety campaign, which a full-fledged addition to the initiatives already developed by the Costan S.p.A. safety office, including, among others, the recent Zero Accidents, sets the primary goals of spreading greater operator awareness regarding risks connected to work and subsequent verification of a greater culture of prevention.

The work team members are Federico Pedrazzi, Epta Marketing, project manager and Alberto Grandini, Costan Safety Manager, promoter of the initiative. They have organised the initiative into five phases:

1. Phase 1: Identification of “20 typical risks” divided into the macro areas below:

• process risks

• ergonomic risks

• physical risks

• mechanical risks

Phase 2: A photo shoot in the main divisions in the Limana plant with a view to identifying some of the most common activities carried out every day, which may, if not correctly and carefully carried out, prove to be a source of risk for operators.

Phase 3: A number of large publicity-type posters characterised by direct, recognisable, big-impact communication that goes beyond the boundaries of normal safety info. They will be installed in some of the factory divisions where the initiative is being promoted.

Phase 4: Integration of the campaign with the e-learning platform (, up and running since 2008 to provide training for all the Group’s companies, inside which has been inserted a specific safety course featuring video pills and teaching sheets. Those attending the course will receive a diploma on completion.

Phase 5: Development of support material to be positioned close to the main eating places and corners in the factory, aiming to optimise recognisability with operators and increase the points of contact for the initiative.

The first phase will start before the end of May at the Limana plants, followed by the Eurocryor factory in Solesino.

The initiative will then extend to the Group’s other plants throughout Italy.

Epta would like to welcome the Micheletti family and the Misa Sud Refrigerazione S.p.A. team, an example of excellence in the production of commercial and industrial cold rooms.

Founded in 1969, its 25,000m² production plant is located in Pomezia and it is well-known on the market for constant research into technologically advanced and eco-friendly solutions.

This partnership between these two leaders will lead to huge added value: from rounding out of the current Epta range for the retail segment, to new synergies and opportunities in the Ho.Re.Ca and food processing sector.

An acquisition that further enriches Epta’s baggage of experience with important technological assets and technical competences. The Misa Research team has in fact developed various patents, including the Misa Vacuum System, for the production of new-concept high-performance isothermal panels and Fastner and Fast-Fit systems.

The CEOs, Francesco Micheletti and Sergio Chiostri, say they are extremely pleased with this agreement, which will enable further growth for both companies, consolidating a definite competitive advantage for long-term development.

+ CO2  plants and – Total Equivalent Warming Impactis the winning equation on which Epta has based design of its refrigeration system for the Green Store Stamata belonging to the Alfa Beta Vassilopoulus Group in Athens.

This is an exemplary installation, the first one of its kind in Greece, once again confirming Epta’s technological leadership on an international level.

Calculation of the total greenhouse gas effect of a machine or energy system throughout its useful life immediately shows that this system has lower values than traditional ones.

The system installed produces a TEWI index value of 730t, compared to the 1377t of a traditional R404A gas solution. Preliminary performance analysis gives important results: a 47% decrease in emissions with savings of 37% over its entire life cycle.

Epta is proud to announce that with this latest project, it has installed over 100  CO2  systems and thanks all its collaborators for having contributed to achievement of this important milestone.
