Epta also makes funds and resources available for the strategic Research & Development department and has opened an Innovation Centre in the outskirts of Milan committed to im-proving the technology and design of refrigerated display units and operating systems. In line with the requirements of the most advanced markets and the most recent European Union directives, Epta research is focused on the development of advanced technologies for new applications; on reducing energy consumption, with resulting economic savings and reduced environmental impact; product end-of-life care; the use of natural refrigerants (HFC FREE) such as carbon dioxide. These solutions have proven very successful in Northern Europe, where ecological issues receive greater attention, with dozens of installations having been made. This represents another of Epta’s strengths as it consolidates its leading position on the international market. In the area of product development, the Group places particular emphasis on innovation, with the aim of optimising product performance and fine-tuning their ergonomic qualities, reducing pollution and saving energy. As regards ecological issues, Epta participates in workshops organised by leading international organisations such as Eurovent and Periphem.
